Supported employment facilitates competitive work in
area businesses with ongoing support services for
individuals for whom competitive employment has not
traditionally occurred. EmployAbility offers two types
of supported employment: individual placement and group
placement.
Individual Placement:
A
job seeker is placed in a job with a community business
that best suits his/her abilities and preferences. An
employment consultant or job coach is available to
assist the employer in training the employee on the job
site and provide consultation to the employer to ensure
a successful job match.
Group Placement:
Group placement is a small group of people, generally
two to eight individuals, who perform specific work at a
company’s work site. Specific work tasks are negotiated
with businesses based on the needs of the business. A
job coach typically provides the training, supervision
and support for the group. These sites are designed to
be training sites for individuals who will transition to
individual placement and extended employment sites for
people who are not looking for individual placement.
Outsourcing:
EmployAbility provides contract work to area businesses
at EmployAbility’s facility. Contract work provided
consists of towel folding, mail assembly and other
assembly work.
